There is a vox populi opinion that dual citizenship is arguably the best heritage of a Nigerian. Beyond the challenges of everyday life in Nigeria, the difficulties in travelling abroad for holidays, business or leisure while holding a Nigerian passport are well documented. From the preconceived prejudices at ports of entry to the visa denials on the most ambiguously flippant premises, there seems to be little benefit for the Nigerian passport holder.
But when life gives you lemons…?
While the Nigerian passport might rank 101st out of 199 countries on the Henley Index, there are still well over 20 countries Nigerians can visit without visas and even more countries that offer visa-on-arrival. YES! No visa applications, No long processing times, No nerve racking visa interviews, No Need for Fasting and Prayer. Just Buy your ticket and fly away.

CATEGORY 2: Visa on Arrival Destinations for Nigerian Passport Holders
Countries in this category issue visa to Nigerian passport holders on arrival. This means that Nigerians do not need to apply for travel visas to these destinations prior to travel as they can be obtained at the port of entry. This eliminates the need for document submission at embassies, visa agents, interviews and long visa processing times.
While some visas on arrival are free, some others require a small fee so, it is important that the traveller has the required amount in the approved currency at the port of entry. Countries on the list issue visas to Nigerian on arrival with a validity period of between 2 weeks and 90 days. Take note that these visas are issued at the discretion of the immigration authority.
