JapaFora Forum is intended to provide informational assistance to our online community with concomitant details on Travel, Study and Migration. The rules and guidelines detailed on this page are designed to ensure a commensurate, safe and enjoyable experience for all community members. We appeal to all members to engage and make contributions on the basis of mutual respect and decorum.

Dear Member, kindly note that your use of our forum is subject to the rules and regulations detailed herein.

Forum Guidelines

1. No Spam Posts or Personal Adverts Allowed in the forum

JapaFora defines spam as unsolicited advertisement for goods, services and/or other web sites, or posts with little, or completely unrelated content. Do not spam the forums with links to your site or product, or try to self-promote your website, business or forums etc.
Should your be found to infringe on this rule your account may be banned permanently and spam posts will be deleted.

2. Do not post irrelevant content

The forum has been methodically structured into categories that are intended to offer broad latitude and ease of access to our users. Kindly ensure that you post only relevant content under the appropriate category. Please find the most suitable category for your questions.

3. Do not post “offensive” posts, links or images

Materials which are defamatory, harassing, sexually explicit, racist, prejudicial or otherwise obscene are strictly prohibited on our forum. These include avatars of users. Please stick to family friendly content

4. Do not PM users asking for help

Do not send private messages to any users asking for help. If you need help, make a new thread in the appropriate forum then the whole community can help and benefit.

5. Remain respectful of other members at all times

Please maintain decorum and civility. The use of uncouth, condescending and vituperative language is highly frowned upon. Disagreements on topics and perspectives is very much consistent with the human nature. However, insults and ad hominem attacks are not welcome here. This rule is very much also relevant to moderators.


General Posting / Community Guidelines

1. Your JapaFora Account

Your JapaFora account is exclusively intended for personal use. Kindly do not grant access to anyone else. Please endeavor to provide the most accurate information so as to gain trust and credibility within the forum community. Use your account for the purposes intended by the forum.

2. Be Kind and respectful

Be Kind and respectful to all community members. New members who are getting to grips with the modus operandi and site functionalities should be treated with respect. Be patient with them. Thank you.

3. Try to be as Descriptive as possible when writing questions or topics

Avoid using headings like “Hello”, “This is Very Urgent”

Generally ANYTHING similar to those is unacceptable. Just post your problem and let the community offer you a solution.

Here is a good example of a way to post a question

“What are the Cheapest, short layover flights from Lagos to Budapest ?” OR “Is it possible to take my kids with me for my Masters in the UK ?”

4. Be Careful

Take special care when requesting for travel companions and services from other community members. Ensure you have all the requisite information to make an informed decision on an action that could impact your safety and security.

5. Be Constructive

Even when offering negative feedback, endeavor to remain constructive and sensitive to the feelings of other community members

How many Accounts am I permitted ?

One. There is no reason why you would need more. If you have difficulties accessing your account, contact the administrator on info@japafora.com or use the password recovery option.

Are there consequences for breaking forum rules ?

Yes. One may be warned, suspended or permanently banned depending on the nature of the rule violation. Moderators are available to regulate content and have the responsibility of editing, deleting, reordering or closing threads or posts they deem inappropriate or in violation of community rules.

What should I do if I see an inappropriate post or content?

Report to the admin by hitting the report button on the post or send a private message to a moderator. Another option is to directly send an email to info@japafora.com

How Can I become a Moderator ?

Eligibility for this responsibility is contingent on merit.. We consider applicants on the basis of duration of membership, number of posts and overall activity within the forum. Quality of content and competence will be examined in assigning moderator responsibilities. Feel free to apply if you feel you meet the criteria and we will review your application.

Moderator Policy

In Order To Apply To Be A Moderator You Must:

  • be a registered member and regular user of our forum
  • be consistent in offering qualitative content
  • have a positive presence on JapaFora
  • be proactive
  • possess demonstrated knowledge on key subjects
  • be polite, courteous and helpful towards other members and give advice whenever needed and whenever possible.
  • visit the forum daily, actively take part in discussions as often as possible, ideally once a day, setting a good example to the other members.
  • take an active part in discussions between Moderators relating to the running of the forum.
  • help to keep unsuitable content out of the forums as much as possible.
