1. Maastricht University

Maastricht University is a top ranking university in The Netherlands, it is the most famous international university in the Netherlands. The university has over 16,000 students and 4,000 employees and it stands out for its innovative education model, international character and multidisciplinary approach to research and education. 

2. Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) 

The Delft University of Technology is one of Netherlands’ oldest university as it was founded in 1842 and is currently ranked 52nd  in the world. The university has over 23,000 students with a focus on engineering disciplines, computer science, mathematics, applied sciences, and policy and management in technology.

3. University of Amsterdam 

The University of Amsterdam was established in 1632 and is Netherlands’ largest university. The University of Amsterdam is the third oldest University in the Netherlands and is ranked the 57th in the QS World University Rankings. The university teaches undergraduate and graduate programs across a broad spectrum of subjects, with a large selection of English-taught master’s degrees, and a few English-taught bachelor’s degrees.

4. Eindhoven University of Technology

The Eindhoven University of Technology is a technical university in The Netherlands. The university is ranked 99th in the world and teaches degrees based in the engineering and technical fields. It also ranks among the world’s leading universities for architecture.

5. Leiden University 

The Leiden University is the oldest university in The Netherlands- it was established in 1575 by William I, Prince of Orange. The university is currently ranked joint 122nd in the world.

6. Utrecht University 

Utrecht University was established in the year 1636 and it is also one of the oldest universities in Europe. It currently has over 30,000 students enrolled across its seven faculties, which makes it one of the largest universities in the Netherlands.

7. University of Groningen 

The University of Groningen was established in the year 1614 and it is the fourth-ranked university in the Netherlands. It was one of the Netherlands’ first few universities and has a long history of leadership- it produced the country’s first female student, first female lecturer, the first Dutch astronaut and the first president of the European Central Bank. Over 30,000 students are currently enrolled and like other top universities in the Netherlands, it is a popular choice for foreign students.

8. University of Twente (UT)

The University of Twente is a public research technical university that was ranked 65th in the Reuters’s 2017 European Most Innovative Universities.

9. Wageningen University and Research

Wageningen University and Research is a public university that is located in Wageningen, Netherlands. The university focuses on researches that deal with scientific, social and commercial problems in the field of life sciences and natural resources. The university has about 12,000 students from over 100 countries.

10. Radboud University

The Radboud University was established in 1923 and it focuses on researches. The university has seven faculties and enrolls over 22,000 students. It is also an internationally-oriented university.
