Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is a British organisation that evaluates the performance of emerging universities on the European and Asian continents. The QS metric is arguably the world’s most reliable and popular source of comparative data on university performance.
Russian, Polish and Czech Republic universities rank high on the list. However, universities in Hungary have performed remarkably well according to th QS metric.
QS evaluated 450 universities for the 2022 list and a total of 10 Hungarian universities made it to the top 33% of the ranking.
Eotvos Lorand University was the highest ranked Hungarian university and was placed at 26th on the QSS list. They were followed by University of Szeged and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, both tied at 29th place.
The QS ranking considers a plethora of performance criteria including academic and employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, number of faculty staff with PhD, citations per paper, papers per faculty, international research network, international students ratio as well as web impact of the universities.
