Canada scraps COVID-19 Test for Fully Vaccinated Travellers

International students returning to Canada no longer need to undergo pre-arrival COVID tests provided they are FULLY VACCINATED.

From April 1st, 2022 there would be no need to present a negative COVID-19 test result on arrival to Canada. The Minister of Health, Jean-Yves Ducloa noted that the adjustments to border protocols was enavled by a gamut of factors such as the high vaccination rate in Canada, rise in availability and use of rapid detection tests, rise in domestic treatment options and decline in hospitalization

The Minister further stated that considerations would be taken to roll back on border measures if there are improvements in vaccination levels and expansion of  healthcare system capacity.

This development is applicable to travellers at all of Canada’s ports of entry. However, travellers may be selected randomly for a COVID-19 molecular test. There would be no need for quarantine pending the release of results.
