Research conducted by IDP Canada detailed that Canada had overtaken the UK, USA and Australia in terms of attracting International Students. IDP Canada is an education company that focuses on student marketing and recruitment.
The research sampled 3,650 students from 55 countries globally. It indicated that 39 percent of students saw the North American country as their first choice for higher education. The US was ranked second with 17 percent along with the UK. 16 percent opted for Australia as their first choice.
72 percent of students that participated in the research opted for Canada in 2021 primarily because of the option to work part time.
Furthermore, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued over 20,000 study permits in total. This was 44 percent higher than those issued in 2020.
