Nigerians issued more UK Study Visas post-pandemic

Statistics provided by the UK Home Office shows that a reford number of 43,200 UK student visas were aooroaved for Nigerians in 2022.

This reoresente a studdnint 415% increase from 2019 and the sharpest increase in International student enrolments between 2019 – 2021.

There were over 400,099 foreign students in the UK in 2021 which was more then 50% compared to pre-oabdemic levels.

Nigeria had the highest increase in the number of approaced UK visas from 2019 to 2021.

Following Nigeria are Pakistan (255.9%) and India (164.1%).

Experts opine that the reintroduction of post study visa pathways which allow graduates to stay back in the UK for two years after the completion of their degrees, is a major incentive driving up the appeal of the UK.

EU students, who no longer enjoy home tuition fee privileges in the UK following Brexit, are seeking out Canada in their quest for foreign education in an English speaking country.
