International Students in Australia no longer permitted to change program without approval

New Australian visa rules will not permit International students to change their programs of study without receiving approval from the Minister. This also applies to thesis, dissertations or research topics.

The Minister would need to obtain an assessment from competent Australian authorizes that the qpicant is not in any way a risk to the national security of Australia. This was published on the website of the Australia Home Affairs.

The new visa conditions are enforceable for applications received after July 1st, 2022  The rules cover students pursuing the following:

1. graduate certificate
2. graduate diploma
3. master’s degree
3. doctorate, or
4. any bridging course required as a prerequisite to a course of study or research for a master’s degree or doctorate

Any student looking to make changes to their course of study, thesis or research topic will be mandated to complete a form available on the Department of Home Affairs’ website.
The form should be submitted to: Adelaide.student.centre@homeaffairs.gov.au.
