Radical Storage analysed over 826,000 TripAdvisor reviews from 100 top tourist city destinations and ascertain the cities that most exceeded expectations. This was done in 2022.
This was done by analysing terms such as “pleasantly surprised” and “amazing”.
The study found that Budapest Hungary had the highest percentage at 96.17% of reviews containing positive comments.
The highest percentage of global reviews remarking on how “beautiful” and “stunning”the city is, belonged to Penang, Malaysia. Penang tourists remarked on how “pleasantly surprised” they were.
The top ten cities that exceeded tourist’s expectations:

3. Zurich, Switzerland
4. Dublin, Ireland
5. Lima, Peru
6. Lisbon, Portugal
7. Mexico City, Mexico
8. Nice, France
9. Auckland, New Zealand
