The United Kingdom set to simplify COVID-19 travel rules for Nigerians

Following an avalanche of complaints by travellers, the UK has promised to assuage the stringent COVID-19 travel rules for Nigerians and other International inbound travellers.

The British High Commission in Nigeria has promised that the new travel experience would come to effect October 4, 2021.

Nigerian travelers to the UK had complained of the onerous pandemic related restrictions when travelling to the British Isle. Many Nigerians have lamented over the failure of UK authorities to recognize the vaccines administered to them in Nigeria.

Faisal Shuaib, the Nigerian executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, stated that Nigerian officials were in dialogue with the UK government over ameliorating the current circumstances.

Faisal further stated that vaccines administered in Nigeria were recognized in the UK and said Nigeria is classed under the amber list of the UK. Travelers from amber list countries who are not fully vaccinated must quarantine for 10 days on arrival and take a covid-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8.

The UK High Commissioner in Nigeria said that the UK recognizes Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson’s and Johnson’s as well as Oxford-AstraZeneca.
