Passport Booklet Shortage Saga: Nigerians stranded abroad

The inability of Nigerians living abroad to renew their expired International passports may hinder them from returning to the country to spend time during the festive season.

Over 1000 Nigerians are said to be stranded in Atalanta, US as they are unable to have their expired passports renewed. This is complicated by the paucity of passport booklets and the extenuating circumstances surrounding the process of obtaining National Identity Numbers (NIN) from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

The Federal Government and the Nigerian Immigration Service are reportedly making efforts to address the concomitant issues relating passport booklet shortages within the country and abroad.
