More EU and Schengen Countries reopen visa application centres abroad

While European COVID-19 related restriction still exist on most travellers from “third world” countries, a host of European Union and Schengen area countries have reopened their visa application centres abroad.

This decision followed conformation from the countries that the current pandemic situation necessitated such a step. India is the major beneficiary as most of the visa centres in question are located there. There have been over 30 million cases in the Asian nation with around 444,000 deaths. As at the middle of September 2021, over 40% percent of the population have received at least one dose of vaccines with nearly 185 million fully vaccinated.

Staff at the Irish visa application centre in India have resumed operations and now accept short stay visa application. VFS Global handle all visa applications for Ireland in India.

Germany and Belgium also announced they have resumed accepting visa applications in India. Indians are now eligible to visit more countries following this development.
